ok, here it is...the "who am i?" page.

i grew up in far northwest new jersey...nono, not "joisey" or even "jersey." i've taken to calling sussex county "the farmland nobody knows about." it's up where new jersey meets new york and pennsylvania, near high point (the highest point in the state).

i was a music geek in high school--all-state, all-eastern (MENC), all that. so naturally i headed off to music school when i was done. in four fun-fulled years at Oberlin Conservatory i went through three majors (music education, conducting, and vocal performance) and one minor (musicology), finally finishing with one of each (singing and musicology).

after oberlin i headed west to bloomington, indiana and the Indiana University School of Music. once again, i switched majors mid-way, from singing to musicology, and with all my M.A. coursework finished, i moved on to the big city and the musicology doctoral program at New York University

but then, my need to pay the rent (by working full-time), combined with settling in in NYC, derailed my plans to be dr. puppy, at least for a while. i'm not really convinced that i need a ph.d in musicology.

although i figured out that i was gay early on in my time at oberlin, i didn't really start exploring my piggish tendencies until i was in indiana. once i knew i was moving to NYC, i started hanging out on IRC's #gaynycsm, where i got to know a bunch of great folks, several of whom are brothers in the NY Renegades, an SM/bondage group. and on valentine's day (a horrible "holiday" IMO, but that was the day...) 1998 i went out to The LURE (Leather, Uniforms, Rubber, Etc.) and NYMaster had a visitor from Atlanta in tow. he thought i was cute, i thought he was cute, we spent the next two months talking on IRC, and the next time he was in the area on business he spent the weekend with me. neither of us expected more than a play weekend, but four and a half years later we're still together. at the beginning of 2000 we bought a house in the ditmas park/flatbush area of brooklyn. it's a 100-year-old row house, with lots of the original woodwork intact on the main floor and even a few of the old gas fixtures too (converted to electric, of course). we're still in the process of redoing the basement with a guest bedroom (that's done, actually) and playroom area.

meet the skunk

i was asked to become a Renegade Brother in 1999, and skunk joined in 2001. the club puts on four bar nights a year at The LURE, two play runs: the Rites Of Spring in April, which is coming up on its third year in 2003; and the Renegade Run in July, which just had its 10th year in 2002.
